Bereavement Policy:
Active Members: For the loss of an active member of the East Baltimore church of Christ. They shall receive the support of all the care groups and the entire East Baltimore congregation. They also shall have the right to use the church building and other resources provided by the church at no cost unless covered in another clause in this policy.

Non-Active members: For the loss of a non-active member of the East Baltimore church of Christ (non-active refers to a member who has not assembled with the saints or been in contact with the leadership of the congregation within the past six months). They shall have the support of the minister and elders who shall direct the upcoming activities as wisdom dictates unless covered in another clause in this policy.

Immediate Family: For the loss of an immediate family member, (which consists of mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, spouse, son, daughter, stepchildren, adopted children, grandmother, grandfather, grandchildren, brother, sister, stepbrother, and stepsister) whether in the body or out of the body the bereaved member(s) shall receive the support of their care groups and the minister and elders. However, the use of a funeral home is preferable to the use of the church building. Use of the building therefore shall be at the minister and/or elders discretion unless covered in another clause in this policy.

Other family members: For the loss of distant family members (cousin, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, in-laws and such like) the bereaved member shall receive the support of the care group in which they are apart, moreover anyone can at any time give support on their own. In addition, the use of a funeral home is preferable to the use of the church building. Use of the building therefore shall be at the minister and/or elders discretion.

Non-Members: For the loss of non-members which may include visitors, friends, former members and others, they can be aided by the minister at the ministerís discretion and the familyís request. However, the use of a funeral home is preferable to the use of the church building. Use of the building therefore shall be at the minister and/or elders discretion.
